History of Blower Door Testing

Finding Leaks By Blower Door
Finding leakage can be a challenging part of the Blower Door Testing process. We test for leaks at no charge as a part our Guaranteed Pass Program.

A Blower Door passing score is important. Some testing companies merely set up the Blower Door instrumentation, run the test, and then leave. If the test does not provide a passing score the testing company makes no further effort. The testing company does not assist the General Contractor with finding the leakage. After the General Contractor does find the leakage the testing company can be hired again and paid the testing fee a second time. Blower Door Test of Minnesota serves our clients differently. We prepare the property before the test. If there is an issue, we do thermal imaging to find the leak. This is done at no charge.
When we enter a home to perform a Blower Door Test we begin by doing a survey of the entire home. If the dryer is not yet installed, we cover the dryer vent to prevent air leakage. The the kitchen range exhaust vent is not yet installed, we cover the exhaust duct work. Similarly, if a fireplace is not yet installed, we follow the same procedure. We check the doors to make sure the door seals have been installed. If they have not been, we seal the opening with removable tape. We make certain the home is ready to be tested.
